Breakfast

The most important meal of the day not only starts the body to function but also just as importantly feeds the brain, by allowing your child to miss out on breakfast your attitude does not allow your child to develop and work to its full potential therefore he/ she will not be as productive as other children who do not miss out on breakfast.

Whatever you do, ensure that your children do go to school with a little something in their tummies even if it  is some crackers with raisins, a wholesome cereal bar and they consume it before they leave the house and don’t forget the drink hot or cold as long as they drink it before they leave, you may even find their school grades may go up.
Remember the only way you’re going to make any mind or body work to its full potential is by food stimulation but to start the metabolism it has start with breakfast.

Obligation

As a parent you have to ensure that your little genius is getting the best from you, most parents have budgets for food but learn to utilize your money. It may be an idea every week instead of purchasing that extra one box of cookies/ potato chips/crisps @ $2.69 - $3.49 why not try a new/ interesting piece of fruit or vegetable perhaps fresh pineapple, Paw paw / papaya, mango, fresh asparagus, aubergines, okra/ ladies fingers, broccoli, white radish/ daikon fresh  uncooked baby spinach de-stemmed  & sliced ultra thin & tossed in ranch if the kids are in a cheesy frame of mind coat with parmesan cheese, you just may even shock yourself. This way you are able to introduce a variety of foods without you and your family going through health food shock and a craze at that too as you want the experience ongoing and not a trial/ fad.
There are so many different and simple inexpensive foods out there which provide a wealth of gourmet experience for you and your family.

Lunch

How do you control what your child eats or throws away at school regardless whether it is a school lunch or a home packed lunch, you simply can’t!
Look in to ways to build a relationship with your child that if he/she doesn’t like something let them be honest with you, as adults our taste buds change from time to time and kids are no different often they will say nothing and it ends up in the trash/bin or traded for something not so nutritious.
Talk to your child: perhaps when you are all sitting down for dinner if their lunch was adequate for them and if they managed to eat all of it or not, what did they bring back? Just for your own peace of mind & not necessarily for recycling!
Before you start hearing alarm bells in your ears in regard of what I’m saying ... STOP! You are not opening a can of worms you merely establishing a bond of honesty & openness you will be amazed and your child will be more open with its likes & dislikes, what’s the point of purchasing food only to find out its going in the trash/ bin “a little tip... its not cheap when food has been discarded!” common sense prevails it makes more sense for them to eat & to be content than to be hungry and irritable monsters.
Feeding any child can be a very trying time in deed: regardless if its dinner time, breakfast or lunch but for me I found out that my kids really enjoyed and appreciated a packed lunch from home as an option for lunch at school.
At the end of the day your children have to be content at all meal times and a way to introduce them to certain ideas/ concepts is to start at home first as a snack or part of a meal whatever you do please don’t send them out with  an experiment.

Lunch Box Suggestions: Coming soon

Try new recipes with them at home first and what ever you do don’t send them to school with an untested experiment.
In England it was recommended that children under 5 years of age: To avoid certain allergies at a young age they should not consume nuts at all & avoid nut traces in food, also at that age they still have difficulties understanding the necessity of having to chew their food completely before swallowing to avoid choking.

Dinner Challenge

When ever you as a parent or guardian goes out grocery shopping make a point of cooking extra meals only when you will have time. I have a child who is permitted to heat up a packed lunch from home and quite often simple meals like home made chicken schnitzel (breaded chicken steak) eaten with a bread roll and salad or spaghetti and meat sauce or homemade pizza and others are taken to school in a specially chilled container or with ice packs around the containers and heated up at lunch time.

Your child or children are at an impressionable age if you can display and create traditions of your own and honestly it really does not need to be complicated those skills will be carried through their lives and on to their children.
